Microsoft Mobile News: Microsoft Releases Silverlight for Symbian Phones

Microsoft has issued a version of its Silverlight web application framework designed for mobile phone handsets based on the Symbian mobile OS.

The company released a Silverlight port for Nokia 5800, N97 and N97 mini devices running the fifth edition of Nokia's S60 Symbian Linux-based mobile phone OS. Silverlight for Symbian is available as a free download from Nokia's Ovi app store.

Microsoft's own smartphone platform, Windows Mobile, so far provides no support for Silverlight or even Adobe's Flash.(via itproportal)

If you’re wondering whether your handset will support Silverlight, it’s available on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini and other Series 60 5th edition devices.
